## What is a prompt in AI?

Ask for food and you get everything in the house. A good prompt says how much, and what to leave out.

Episode 2 · Hallucination

## Why does AI make things up?

It guesses the next word. It never looks anything up. So it would rather invent something than say “I don’t know”.

Episode 3 · Tokens & temperature

## Why does AI answer differently every time?

One dial decides how big a risk it takes. Turn it down and answers go flat. Turn it up and they go wild.

## Why does AI forget what I told it earlier?

It did not forget you. It ran out of room. The oldest things you said fall out to make space for new ones.

Episode 5 · System prompt

## What is a system prompt?

Someone gave it instructions before you said hello. Same parrot, different costume. You are allowed to ask what it is wearing.

A system prompt isn’t who he is. It’s a costume someone else chose.

1.  Buzzy stands smiling at the warm, glowing hexagonal entrance of the app. Set into the dark honeycomb wall beside him is a plain unmarked door, edged with cold light. Caption: “Buzzy is the welcome desk. Behind him, a door hardly anyone opens.”

18.  Misha stands with Mithu, understanding settling. Misha: “So he's not lying about who he is. Someone dressed him before I walked in.” Caption: “A system prompt isn't who he is. It's a COSTUME someone else chose.”
